Research from AllClear Travel Insurance reveals that 71% of people with medical conditions want to enjoy an activity or adventure holiday abroad in the near future - peaking in London at 81% - well above the national average of 64% and well above the figure for older travellers aged over 55 (45%).

The top choice adventure or activity holidays for people with medical conditions:

Set against this positive vote of confidence in exciting travel abroad, AllClear's research reveals there is a concerning sub-plot: a growing proportion of UK holidaymakers with medical conditions are cutting corners on insurance cover, and some are heading abroad with no cover at all.

Findings from AllClear's new Annual Travel Report reveals that the highest-risk travellers are making some of the most dangerous compromises with their travel cover. Among those with pre-existing medical conditions - the very people most likely to need medical care abroad - AllClear's 2025 data reveals a perfect storm of misplaced confidence and economic pressure:

Garry Nelson, Head of Corporate Affairs at AllClear Travel Insurance comments: "These decisions aren't just about money - they're about misunderstanding. Too many people are treating travel insurance like a commodity, rather than a safety net. But the reality is, you only realise the value of comprehensive travel cover when something goes wrong."

"These aren't just abstract statistics - they reflect real-life risks. And for those with medical conditions, the stakes are even higher. AllClear's message is simple: cut holiday costs where you can, but not where it counts. Travel insurance should be the last thing to drop from the holiday planning checklist. Saving money on the wrong things can end up proving to be a dangerous false economy."
