Company car drivers are becoming increasingly conscious of the damage they do to the environment, according to a study by Leasedrive Velo Group.
The survey found that 87% of drivers would be influenced by a vehicle's carbon emissions when it came to choosing their next model, and 64% would be willing to pay a fee of £40 or more to offset their vehicle's emissions.
When choosing their next car, 68% would go for a diesel (compared to 76% who drive one today), 19% would choose petrol (23% today), 10% would opt for a hybrid (1% today) and 1% would pick an electric car (0.1% today).
"Clearly, company car drivers are more aware than ever before of their green responsibilities and are not only willing to trade down next time to a company car with lower CO2 emissions but are also prepared to back this up by becoming carbon neutral drivers," said Roddy Graham, commercial director at Leasedrive Velo.
