Small business owners have been advised that Consumer Reports - the influential independent watchdog - has said that it cannot recommend Apple's iPhone 4 to buyers.

The news follows its own tests confirming the phone's well-publicised reception and operational glitches.

The watchdog - which also publishes guides on everything from cars to TVs - said that it had tested other phones and found that none had the signal loss of Apple's latest iPhone.
