Amazon enters the Tablet market in a big way with the release of the Kindle Fire in November, at around half the price of an iPad and the various clones that have tried to wrest the market away from Apple, unsuccessfully.
This is a serious threat to the dominance of Apple in the Tablet arena and though the Kindle Fire might settle for the lower end of the market, with the iPad having higher "specs" and occupying the higher ground, paying 50% less might sway the average buyer.
The iPad has seen off all competition so far with it's high quality and innovative product but to start with the Kindle Fire may well destroy the iPad clone opposition, on pure pricing and then slug it out with Apple later, on price versus quality and brand loyalty.
Has to be good news for the consumer in the run up to Christmas
