Housing crisis - Government solution unveiled

Here in the UK it has become almost impossible for the first time buyer, even on a reasonable salary, to get on the bottom rung of the housing ladder without having a deposit in the region of 25% to 30%.

This has caused a vicious circle, with building projects stagnating because builders know they cannot sell the finished project easily, other than to professional landlords on " Buy to Let" arrangements and have put many projects on hold for better times to arrive.

The Government is aware of this and has released plans to kick start some of these initiatives, and create housing stock that the first time buyer can consider and afford. They have created a £400 million fund to  "Get Britain Building" that hopes to get the shelved building projects up and running, create 16,000 new homes and 32,000 jobs in the construction industry.

The fund should make around 3,200 homes affordable, though that definition depends on your financial situation but it may be possible to buy these homes with a much lower deposit than currently required.
