UK No to Euro Rescue Fund

The Eurozone rescue fund, available to bailout those countries in dire financial trouble, needs to be expanded but UK money will not be forthcoming, George Osborne has made clear. It currently stands at Euro 200 billion and may well need to have a trillion Euros added to it to shore up international confidence in the ability of the Eurozone to heal itself.

Part of the Eurozone crisis, is the perception that there isn't sufficient firepower in the fund to cope with the likes of Italy or Spain getting deeper into trouble than they already are in and that the current fund will not be the safety net it needs to be.

This refusal to join the countries contributing more funds to the rescue pot, on top of David Cameron's Veto on closer financial cooperation within the EU, may not be seen as helpful outside of the UK but following recent sustained French critiscism of UK policy and David Cameron himself, maybe that is not a current consideration?
