Barclays bank may well feel a little hard done by, having cooperated with the authorities and taken the £270 million fine on the chin, they stood alone in the storm of adverse publicity for being the first to admit culpability.
A number of other Banks on both sides of the channel are also being investigated and Barclays will almost certainly be sharing the Libor fixing headlines in the near future.
The sooner that all parties come to court and pay their dues, the sooner the banking industry can get on with the job of lending to the SME's that badly need their assistance.
Repairing the severely tarnished reputation of banks in general though will take a lot longer to achieve.
