Google has been out there as the search engine of choice, much to the chagrin of Yahoo, Bing and others, now consigned to the pile of also rans, almost since online time began.
Yahoo has been trying to take them on with regular new guys at the top that have failed to make an impact but hope this time that their new CEO, Marissa Mayer, the third in this position in a year, will produce the goods. She has been with Google since the early days in 1999 and has been the brains behind some of Google's largest projects, such as Google earth.
With the phrase " Google it" being very much in the public psyche, Mayer faces a tough task but her technology background might throw up some unbeatable products that the general public can't do without and their share price could be one to watch, currently around US$16.
