Energy companies in price raise line

What a great job it must be running a UK Energy company?

Whenever there is pressure on the bottom line, no major reorganisation is needed, you can just put prices up and carry on, knowing that very soon your pricing isn't going to stand out like a sore thumb because your competitors are going to do the same.

So far, just before the winter chill takes hold, we have had British Gas increase prices by 6%, SSE by 9% and NPower by 9% and no doubt it is only a matter of time before the other three major energy suppliers do the same, to take their share of the cash cow pie that is the UK consumer.

The Government is due to pass the Energy Bill later this year, designed to give them more control over the energy company's pricing structures, which impact hugely on the inflationary targets the Goverment has, policed by the Bank of England, currently at 2%.
