Disney has added the Star Wars franchise to its portfolio, of film production companies, with the purchase of Lucasfilm for £2.5 bn from the originator of this highly popular series, George Lucas, who conceived and released the first film back in 1977.

The first film under Disney's management, is due out in 2015, much to the joy of the huge army of " Trekies" that live and have grown up in this highly developed fantasy world created by Lucas, that has spawned an industry worth billions over and above the huge box office receipts.
