The Federal Reserve Bank, the Central Bank of the US, has decided to bring to a halt to what became known as QE or Quantitative Easing, one of the major financial tools used to get the country out of recession.
It is a complex way in which a Government can buy assets that keep the yields, interest rates and inflation low while grappling with an economy in recession.
Arguments rage as to the overall effectiveness of QE to any Government but clearly the US thinks that their economy has reached a level where this particular tool is no longer needed.
