Greek election win bad news for Eurozone

Greece has a new Prime Minister in Alexis Tsipras the head of Syriza, who have sailed to victory on a promise to renegotiate the terms of the Eurozone loans the country has agreed to, in order to receive massive bailout funds.

Not an election promise that will bring stability to the Euro, already weakened by the recent Eurozone Quantitative Easing activity and the possibility of a Syriza election win, now a reality.

If the so called Troika, who were responsible for arranging the badly needed loans, turn down the new Greek head’s requests, there may be no alternative but for Greece to ditch the Euro, default on loan repayments and leave the protection of the Eurozone.

Having to write off the 240 billion Euros that Greece owes the central purse, would be painful for sure and may give other recent European bailout recipients thoughts of doing something similar but ultimately, without the drain on resources that Greece has been, the Euro might well strengthen, once the dust settles, as long as the domino effect can be prevented.
