Business Insurance once a field which was largely operated by brokers has quickly developed into an area where customers can choose to skip the middle man and go directly to such insurers themselves. It could be argued that a change in the market behavior was more than likely inevitable due to the swift development and wider availability of the internet.

At the start of 2004 it was estimated that there were around 4.3 million business enterprises in the UK. The vast majority of which were SMEs. During this time, the SME sector was responsible for more than half of the UK’s turnover and likewise with regards to employment (DTi Statistical Press Release URN 05/92 August 2005). When you run your own business, you want to spend as much time as possible earning income and as little time as possible searching around for the right insurance deal.
An aim of one of the first direct business insurance entrants, Premierline Direct, is to use their experience to tailor an insurance policy that meets the business needs. What’s more, customers receive all this for a competitively priced premium and with no compromise on the level of service. Being business insurance specialists they understand that within a specific trade there are different insurance needs and so they also offer a whole range of optional insurance cover which can be chosen in addition to the standard cover.
