The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) is running a series of seminars to increase companies' awareness of developing travel plans that can help reduce carbon emissions.

The organisation is working in association with the Department for Transport's National Business Travel Network to deliver six events across the UK that will promote the need for businesses to develop sustainable travel plans.

"Travel plans could turn time spent in traffic jams to time spent with customers and supporting the business, while simultaneously improving employees' quality of life," said David Frost, director general of the BCC.

"The cost of driving could rise sharply in the coming decade. Employers will need to be able to recruit and retain the best staff, while guaranteeing them good access to their work sites."

The seminars are scheduled to take place in Birmingham, Liverpool, north-east England, Northern Ireland, Suffolk and Sussex between March and June 2008. For more information please go to www.britishchambers.org.uk/business_services/nbtn/index.html [1]
