Hotspots of enterprise have just a few weeks left to get their entry in for the regional heats of Enterprising Britain 2008.

The awards, run by Make Your Mark on behalf of the Department of Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR), seek to recognise the areas where enterprise has helped to transform the social and economic fortunes of their communities.

The competition is being launched by Shriti Vadera, minister for business and competitiveness at BERR, and the judging panel includes Dragons' Den judge Peter Jones.

"I have been extremely impressed by the strength, determination and innovative thinking demonstrated by those people who have used enterprise to transform the social and economic fortunes of their community," said Jones.

"The Enterprising Britain competition is a great chance for enterprise success stories from across the UK to shine."

Deadlines for entries range from the 18 April 2008 in Scotland and the South East to the 9 May 2008 in the East Midlands. The winners of the regional events will go forward to a national final.
