The marathon takes the runners through the young capital of Astana, whose cityscape is characterized by modern and futuristic buildings from renowned architects including Sir Norman Foster. This year the city is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Air Astana, the national carrier of Kazakhstan, operates flights to over 60 domestic and international routes from hubs in Astana and Almaty.
