Eureka Moment
The idea for Brick Bagz came from a simple, practical problem: LEGO®
sets constantly getting mixed up, with no easy way to store, carry,
and play with them in one solution. As a parent, I wanted something functional,
durable, and child-friendly without compromising on design. Conversations with
other families quickly confirmed this was a shared frustration. Support from
Virgin StartUp helped turn that initial idea into a real product,
providing guidance and confidence at a critical early stage.
Finance
From the outset, the focus was on building Brick Bagz sustainably.
Funding and mentoring through Virgin StartUp allowed us to invest in brand
development and source our first large production run while keeping costs
tightly controlled. Careful cash-flow management and reinvesting revenue have
been key to growing the brand without overextending.
Regrets
One regret is trying to handle too much alone in the early
stages while running at full speed. Building a brand organically on a
limited budget is tough, and trusting others and leaning on experienced mentors
sooner would have accelerated progress.
What would you have
changed?
I would have spent more time vetting suppliers that could truly support our
growth, rather than losing time and money on agencies that delivered little
return.
