Figures released by the Office for National Statistics has revealed that older women outnumber their male counterparts in the workplace.

The employment rate for men in the last five years before they reach the pensionable age of 65 stands at 58%.

Almost 64% of women, who officially retire at 60, are still employed in the last five years of their working lives.
