A government campaign is offering small businesses free advice from Defra and the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) on how to save money on utility bills.
DECC and Defra have put forward ten tips on how SMEs can save money and the environment as part of their 'Real Help for Businesses Now' campaign.
The tips include switching off computers and monitors as leaving them on for a day costs over £50 a year, keeping the office temperature constant as heating costs go up 8% when the temperature is increased by just one degree and using refillable photocopier cartridges.
"By making a few simple changes, businesses can make a big difference to their bottom line. These are good, practical tips that businesses can follow easily to cut their costs as well as do their bit for the environment - a bonus in both the current economic and environmental climate," said Lord Hunt, Minister for Sustainability
