Employees from many small and medium-sized businesses have continued to work this week, despite many being unable to make it into the office, according to data released by internet services provider Gradwell.
The firm's statistics show that, despite the snow, between 9am and 10am on the 5th and 6th of January, almost as many phone calls were made as on any other working day of the year.
This has been attributed to the rise in remote working, with many SME staff now having laptops, work mobiles and even VOIP phones, which enable employees to make phone calls over the internet whilst appearing to use the business's landline number.
"Although our statistics reveal a slight dip in the number of calls made on 6th January, in the main businesses have continued to operate as normal despite the snow," said Peter Gradwell, managing director of Gradwell.
