Rising fuel prices provide fleet managers with the perfect opportunity to cut their carbon footprint, according to fleet software firm cfc solutions.

The organisation claims that by introducing fuel cards in conjunction with fleet software, companies can monitor and control the amount of fuel they use and in doing so cut back on the damage they do to the environment.

“A fleet that moves to tackle fuel use in order to control costs is also one that could easily put in accompanying measures to control its carbon footprint at the same time,” said the company’s business leader Andy Leach. “A fleet that uses less petrol and diesel is, almost by definition, a greener one.

“With fuel card data you can start to identify drivers and vehicles that are using the most fuel,” he added.

“You can also introduce policies that target fuel use, such as ensuring that three drivers making the same trip at the same time do not use separate vehicles. None of these measures are exactly rocket science but they are all very effective.”
