London and Birmingham led the way as the UK's commercial property hotspots in 2007.

According to data compiled by officebroker.com, demand for office space in Birmingham increased by 41% making it the most popular choice after the capital.

"The range of office space available in Birmingham is vast," said Jim Venables, managing director of officebroker.com.

"From funky warehouse space to out-of-town business parks, contemporary city centre developments to period-style office accommodation, this is a city that offers the business community an incredible amount of choice"

Other cities that flourished in 2007 included those along the M4 corridor, the 2008 capital of culture Liverpool, Cambridge, Leeds and Nottingham.
