Entrepreneurs are more likely to lead the country out of recession than the government, according to research by business networking organisation The Entrepreneurs Board.

A survey of 2,000 people found that 28% thought that entrepreneurs were more likely to have a positive effect on the economy, compared with 24% that said the government.

The survey also revealed that 38% of respondents plan to set up their own business at some point in the future and seven in 10 people definitely (41%) or maybe (34%) want tax cuts to be given to start‐ups and entrepreneurial businesses to further stimulate the economy.

"Entrepreneurs are vital to recovery in the UK and the public understands this. We should do everything possible to help entrepreneurs make their businesses more successful, whether it's tax cuts or providing business support and guidance," said Brian Chernett, Founder of The Entrepreneurs Board.
