FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world's largest express transportation company, celebrates 30 years of operations at its international gateway in Stansted.  Since establishing itself in 1985, the Stansted gateway has been an important contributor in supporting UK businesses both domestically and across international markets.

Over the years, the international gateway has grown in capacity, increasing from four employees to approximately 540.  Encompassing a total area of 22,000m2, the gateway has capacity for four wide-bodied aircraft, handles up to 7,000 packages an hour and keeps businesses connected to more than 220 countries and territories worldwide.

"Over the last three decades, our international gateway has been vital in helping UK businesses connect to global markets and realise their international potential," said Trevor Hoyle, vice president, Operations, Northern Europe, FedEx Express.  "We're proud that our UK operation plays such an important role, not just in Europe, but globally."

The Stansted gateway has not only helped UK businesses export, but has supported charitable efforts across the UK including helping children's charity KidsOut as part of the FedEx Cares initiative.  This has seen FedEx team members and their families join staff from the charity to pack and subsequently distribute nearly 1,400 boxes of toys each year to disadvantaged children nationwide. Also, since 2003 FedEx Express has joined forces with Motorwise, a week-long intensive Road Safety Course, which takes place in Essex, with FedEx volunteers helping educate students on road safety, while promoting responsible attitudes towards the use of motor vehicles.

"Our people are at the heart of our operations and this growth and success is testament to their continued dedication," Hoyle continued. "We want to build on this expertise and continue to provide British businesses with a platform to global growth."
