Who is Milkround?

Milkround was launched in 1997 as a bridge connecting top employers and top talent. Taking our name from the traditional graduate ‘milk round', our platform makes it easier for recruiters to find their early talent. We engage with students and graduates across the UK to provide them with all the tools they need to shape their career, from careers advice to mentors to job opportunities, while handcrafting custom campaigns for each of our clients to meet their recruitment objectives.

How can companies benefit from using Milkround?

We have opportunities that both large companies and smaller SMEs can benefit from using Milkround. Whether you're hiring one graduate, or looking to recruit 200 alongside running some research and getting exposure on campus, Milkround tailors a solution that's right for the client. We also have 19 years of industry knowledge that recruiters can benefit from - plenty of experience and a great reason to trust our brand!

By coming straight to Milkround, a recruiter can cover all aspects of their recruitment strategy, including targeted campaigns, social media, on campus brand exposure and more. We think of ourselves as a ‘one-stop-shop' but not a ‘one-size-fits-all' solution, providing both employers and candidates with everything they need for their careers and recruits.

How do you interact with UK universities and students - is the contact purely online?

Online engagement is key - try and find me a university student that doesn't own or have access to a laptop or smartphone! This is why last year we made our website responsive, so that it can adapt to whichever device a candidate is using. We also introduced the first graduate search-and-apply app, making it easy for our community to apply for jobs on the go.

Aside from our digital communications (via email, social media, webinars etc) our candidate marketing team is always coming up with new ways to interact with university students. We have a large network of on-campus brand ambassadors, who regularly bring our campaigns and competitions to life at their universities. Partnering with likeminded sites, such as Save the Student and Student Beans, ensures we are at the front of our audiences' minds even when their just browsing the web. Student Employability Days and our Society Awards are just two more ways we connect with our community more than just digitally.

Are you an online facility only as far as employers go, or do your services go somewhat further than that?

Milkround has multiple offerings across our online platforms, however we like to delve into print publications, research and events too!

We have a close partnership with The Times and The Sunday Times, and regularly produce supplements surrounding the youth recruitment market. Our Graduate Career supplement focuses directly on the graduate market, while similarly we produce sector specific publications such as Student Law. We also provide clients with a solution to their recruitment marketing and communication challenges, by offering them the chance to use our community as a way of making better decisions. From long term research projects using surveys, focus groups and online webinars to shorter, targeted Q&As and polls, whatever questions our clients need answering by the youth market, we can help.

We also run a variety of events for employers to get involved in. Our Student Employability Days are taking off with our most recent being in December. We work with specific universities to bring a number of their students along to our HQ in London Bridge to listen to employer talks and conduct in employability workshops. We also run our Society Awards which recognises the hard work that goes into making a successful society, and acknowledging the leaders of tomorrow. Employers can get involved in any of our projects, giving them the chance to align their brand with our youth market initiatives while also getting face-to-face with the UK's top talent.

Do you have profile with pre-university students and if so what do you offer them?

We launched Milkround School Leavers in 2014, with the aim of providing 16-18 year olds with alternative options to the traditional university route. Over the past two years, this platform has taken off with more and more employers recruiting for their apprenticeship, school leaver and sponsored degree schemes. Over 55,000 school and college leavers have joined our community in order to find out about their wider options, search through these opportunities and read content from our advice site. With changes in the government supporting university alternatives, and the upcoming levy being placed onto businesses, we aim to continue to be a platform that recruiters use to find their future talent at this earlier stage.

We also offer employers the chance to engage with this audience face-to-face at our successful School Leavers Employability Fairs. Four times a year, six hundred 16-18 year olds visit our HQ to meet companies at our exhibition, listen
to a number of employer presentations and take part in our
CV workshop.

What is the overall reach of Milkround?

Wow - our reach is huge! We work closely with the top 30 universities in the UK (in accordance with The Sunday Times Good University Guide), conduct on campus activity in the top 50 universities, while also doing engagement work with a variety of the other institutions. Our engaged online community equates to over 500,000 members, while we can reach another 42,000 via our social media channels. Our school leaver community is growing, alongside our key influencer audience (teachers and parents) who we continue to build strong relationships with through our print, event and workshop initiatives. Hundreds of clients trust us to connect them with the right people - why don't you find out how you can join our community and work with us for your recruitment campaign?
