Three-quarters of businesses with small fleets have cut their spending, according to research conducted by Fleet News.
The research also revealed 48% of small fleet operators are now choosing vehicles with lower CO2 emissions and high mpg capacities in order to try and cut their costs. One third of small business operators are also reducing the size of their fleets in an attempt to cut costs in this difficult trading climate.
Other methods that businesses are implementing to try and save costs are driver training (45%), investing in risk management (23%) and better maintenance of their fleets (25%). The research also revealed that businesses are concerned over rising costs, with 70% expecting insurance hikes, 60% leasing price rises and 48% rental rises.
