Apple court win over Samsung

Following the court ruling in the US that Samsung had indeed infringed Apple patents for various products, Apple is going for the throat and looking for a ban in the US on various Samsung Smartphones and a tablet. 

Samsung were fined over US$1 billion for copying Apple innovation, a much larger fine than anticipated, with the possibility that this could increase, if Samsung's more recent phones were also found to infringe Apple patents.

On the back of this verdict, Samsung shares have dropped over 7% but they have appealed and it only applies to US sales of older Samsung models, not the recently released Galaxy S 3.

However, if the legal cases expand to involve the very well received Samsung Smartphones, the effect on Samsung sales could be substantial.
