EU to boost online & mobile commerce
The EU has today set out plans to boost online/mobile commerce in Europe through its "digital agenda". Vanessa Barnett, partner at law firm Charles Russell, comments:

“These are ambitious and 'once in a generation' plans which are designed to give people better access to online/mobile services, make it easier to buy and sell products online, make delivery of products more affordable, create pricing transparency, fairly manage access to services and combat abuses on the Internet.
The Commission tell us that failure to implement a more joined up and transparent market will cost €1,000 per citizen - so let that be an incentive to succeed.
A digital economy, whether for goods, services or content, is a key part of the UK’s path for growth and we welcome the EU's proposals: for every job lost by the introduction of technology, the Commission has found that 2.6 jobs are created in the online/mobile sector."
