Government £1 billion youth jobs scheme
With unemployment of young jobseekers in the age bracket of 18-24 UK, currently standing at over a million, the Government is devoting £1billion to a scheme focussing on reducing these numbers by 400,000 over three years, to start next April.
Termed a " Youth Contract", employers will receive subsidies to take on 160,000 of these youngsters worth £2,275 and anyone unemployed for more than three months from this age group, will be able to request and receive work experience placements up to two months.
Various other incentive programmes are also due to be announced, aimed specifically at those who have the least chance of making it back into employment, through support and availability of apprenticeships and extra time with job advice experts.
