Hurricane Sandy hits land 15 die
Hurricane Sandy makes landfall around New Jersey area in the US at midnight Monday, with the effects felt over hundreds of miles, including central Manhattan, with stock exchanges closed for business on Monday and Tuesday, something that hasn't been caused by weather conditions for 27 years.
Fifteen people have lost their lives in this "Super" storm, as subway tunnels are flooded in New York City and as expected powercuts have put millions of people in the dark, though it is still nightime in most of the areas the storm is passing over, with some twenty States experiencing severe weather conditions.
The storm has lived up to its billing and is currently causing havoc over a thousand miles of America but is reducing in strength significantly since coming ashore.
