Major delivery firm collapses on xmas eve

City Link a big player in the UK parcels delivery market went bust on Christmas eve, with the jobs of of 2,700 staff at risk. With much of their business transacted through third party contractors, this will have a knock on effect with many smaller companies active in this sector.

There are many big players looking for a piece of the UK's parcel delivery market, thanks to the  growth of online purchasing, but it is not clear whether anyone will step in to save all or part of the jobs at stake at this early stage.
