Marks and Spencer sales slump
Marks and Spencer continue to show how difficult high street trading is, with overall sales down by 2.8% in the quarter to June, though food sales rose by 0.6%.
Sales in the non food sectors fell by a massive 6.8%, with the terrible summer blamed for a lot of the underperformance in the clothing sector, though they were also understocked in some of their best selling lines.
A whole host of senior staff movements have come out of these bad results, both in and out, as CEO Marc Bolland strives to get the company back on the right track.
