Microsoft sues Comet -fake Windows CD
Microsoft is taking action against French company Kesa Electricals, who own Comet here in the UK, with regards to Comet creating 94,000 counterfeit Windows recovery disks, to accompany PC's and laptops sold throughout the UK.
Comet believes it has not infringed any Microsoft intellectual property, was acting in it's customers best interests and will "defend it's position vigerously".
Microsoft spokesman for their anti piracyand anti counterfeiting division world wide, David Finn said.
"Comet's actions were unfair to customers. We expect better from retailers of Microsoft products and our customers deserve better to"
Kesa Electricals has been trying to sell the loss making UK retailer for sometime, another high street name suffering from online competition and Kesa shares fell by 5% on this news.
