Petrol Tanker drivers strike vote
Petrol tanker drivers, have voted to strike over pay and working conditions that could threaten supplies to over 8,000 petrol stations. Only 2,000 drivers are involved, members of Unite union, who earn on average £45,000 per year and they supply fuel to 90% of the country's forecourts, so are very well placed to hold the country to ransom.
Is this a great time to cause widespread disruption ahead of the four day Easter break, when the world takes to the roads in the UK and with the spotlight on the UK ahead of the Olympics ?
Most defintely not!
The Government has lined up teams of army drivers who are being trained to deliver fuel to reduce the effect of the potential strike as much as possible.
Great industry the fuel business, overpriced fuel at the pumps and record profits being made by the companies that supply it, while the consumer suffers and now we might not be able to buy the stuff anyway.
Isn't it time for the air traffic controllers to take our minds off of these local problems?
