Rail Fare rises take effect

The reality of the new fare rises on commuters will hit home this morning as they reach the ticket office window after 20 minutes of queing.

Rises of up to 11% have been seen according to watchdog 'Passenger Focus'. The average rise in fares was 5.9% which included unregulated fares such as business and advance tickets.

The campaign for Better Transport has been urging commuters to tweet, call or text the Treasury in protest today.
