Snow to add to economic woes?
We in the UK don't traditionally handle snow that well, with the cost of being continually prepared for it, far outweighing the economic damage inflicted on the odd occasion, when one or two centimetres of the white stuff, brings the economic wheels of UK Plc to a grinding halt.
Certainly the current snowfall will have an effect on the economic performance of the UK, where growth is already bumping along at the bottom of the range and it is estimated that up to a third of the country's workforce have been effected.
This will no doubt fuel the move to facilitate a more flexible working environment for employees who need the ability to work from home where necessary, though trust and security are big issues for management to overcome and some system needs to be in place to measure home based productivity.
The Cloud comes with a number of serious issues for initial consideration but since our company decided to give it a go, we have carried on working through three major snowfalls over two years that would have caused no end of problems for days but now just activates a different and somewhat comfortable but very productive mode of operation.
