UK growth slows
Statistics released from the Office of National Statistics (ons) show a decline in UK growth of just 0.2% in the second quarter of 2011, down from 0.5% in Q1 and still basically flatlining.
A little like the train excuses for late running - "leaves on the line", "the wrong kind of snow" this time it is the Bank holiday within the period. In the past is has been the weather and the Japanese tsunami has also come in for some of the blame, as does the Royal Wedding.
All true in part but still masking the fact that the UK economy is very fragile and is unlikely to hit the expected 2.6% overall growth this year.
