UK Inflation falls to 4% for March
UK Inflation ( Consumer Price Index) for March drops to 4%, better than than analysts had predicted, the concensus being similar to the Febuary figure at around 4.4% though this is still double the Bank of England target.
Downward pressures came from food and non alcoholic beverages and surprisingly air transport, where prices rose by less than a year ago, particularly on the shorter European flights.
The main upward pressures came from housing and household services, where domestic heating costs have risen this year and remained unchanged last year.
