UK Public Sector pension strikes
Public sector workers in many areas are expected to strike today, over proposed Government cut backs to their Pension schemes.
This is part of the UK's Austerity package and coming out of the need to reduce Government debt and also face facts as people are living longer and we cannot afford to fund a comparatively young, non working populace.
Following a breakdown in talks, there will be huge disruption across the UK as Civil servants, including teachers, lecturers and some key staff at airports and ports, responsible for the smooth entry of visitors to the UK, are expected to join the strike.
Parents who work are especially hit hard as not all teachers are striking, so many people will have to take an unexpected day off work to look after their children, with around a third of schools expected to experience disruption.
