UK unemployment increases to 2.64 million

UK unemployment is now at its highest level for 17 years after rising to 2.64 million. In the three months to October, UK unemployment rose by 128,000.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said that the jobless rate has increased by 0.4% to 8.3%. Youth unemployment is now at its highest since records began in 1992, rising to 1.027 million.
