UK unemployment lower
UK unemployment numbers have dropped to 7.8% from 7.9%, for the three months to the end of September as released by the ONS (Office of National Statistics).
Within the period 100,00 people have found work, the number of unemployed now totalling 2.51 million, with the workforce in the UK now numbering 30 million. Part time workers increased by 49,000 to 8.1 million with those in full employment adding 51,000 workers now totalling 21.4 million.
A worrying statistic within the information given by the ONS, is the increase in the number of people claiming Job seekers allowance, up by an unexpected 10,100. The period also included Olympic related one off employment figures, so most analysts think the good news isn't as special as it might look initially and the improvement won't continue at this rate.
