UK Unemployment rate lowest now since 1975
Figures released from the Office of National Statistics (ONS), show a drop in the number of people unemployed to 1.49 million for the quarter to May at 4.5%, the lowest rate for 42 years and a decline of 0.2%.
With inflation sitting just below 3% and earnings growth averaging 2 %, the UK household is suffering a little but the Brexit effect, that significantly lowered the value of sterling and made imports dearer, has not as yet reversed the unemployment downward trend, though many economists thought it would by now.
