Eureka moment
The
internet has improved the way we buy nearly everything, but new car buying has
gone largely unchanged for the past 100 years. For such a high value purchase,
consumers are often disappointed by the customer service they receive as well
as the lack of transparency in pricing. We saw a gap in the marketplace - what
if we could allow customers to compare both prices and dealerships online, then
buy directly from the dealer?
Financing
We
raised £250k in an angel round in 2012, a £1.3m seed round in 2013 and a £4.6m
in a Series-A round last December. Our investors are Balderton Capital, Episode
1 Ventures and Samos Investments.
Regrets
Making
some hiring mistakes. We've made a few hires over the last couple of years that
haven't worked out. It's a huge time waste to spend time training up people,
then to realise they're not right for us and to let them go.
What would you have changed?
We've
now got a more rigorous interview process and we act quicker during the
early days if we have doubts or areas for improvement we can work on with the
person.
