Eureka Moment:
Guthrie & Ghani was born from a lifelong passion for sewing and creativity. But for me, the real turning point came in 2023, when I enrolled on the Help to Grow: Management Course. Before the course, I didn't have the right mindset for growth. But throughout the programme, I learned how to think strategically - what to evaluate, how to structure the business, and how to plan for sustainable development. Most importantly, it gave me the confidence to take bold steps to move Guthrie & Ghani forward. Since then, I've diversified the business by acquiring one of our key suppliers. This has enabled us to expand into the B2B space while continuing to grow our strong B2C customer base.
Finance:
Having self-funded and built the business from scratch, I think it's key to ensure viability by understanding the numbers and re-investing to make continued improvements.
Regrets:
I wish I'd put the right structures in place sooner to stay true to my ethos, grow the business, and still balance life as a mother of three young children. The Help to Grow: Management Course gave me the tools to think more strategically, so I can now focus my limited time on the things that truly matter.
What would you have changed?:
Honestly, I'm not sure I would change anything. All of the experiences and mistakes are lessons learned that have got me where I am today.
