Eureka moment
My eureka moment wasn't a single event, but a realisation that grew over time. As an Italian woman who moved from Sardinia to Scotland to build a new life, I wanted to create something that truly reflected who I am. After building a career outside the fashion industry, I realised I could bring together Italian craftsmanship, timeless luxury and sustainability. Naming the brand ValeriaVH was a conscious decision because every piece carries not only my name, but also my reputation and commitment to quality.

ValeriaVH was made possible with a £15,000 loan from DSL Business Finance through the British Business Bank's Start Up Loans Programme. As a female entrepreneur, this funding meant more than just financial support - it was a vote of confidence. From the beginning, my focus has been on creating a brand without compromising on quality, craftsmanship or sustainability.
Regrets?
My only regret is that I waited so long to believe in myself. Every challenge has made me stronger, and every obstacle has reinforced my determination to build something meaningful and lasting.
What would you have changed?
I would have trusted myself sooner. Building a business has taught me that courage comes before confidence. If my journey encourages even one other woman to believe in her ideas and take that first step, then sharing my story has been worthwhile.
