New Business runs into the founders of Fashercise who are championing the best independent activewear labels from around the globe.

Eureka Moment

The Eureka moment came five years ago when Alex started running and writing about her experience on her blog.
We realised there was a gap in the market for real girls talking about their exercise journey. Along the way, we discovered many new independent activewear brands and, after going for drinks, we decided to turn Fashercise from a blog to a multi-brand retailer. We knew we had a winning idea on our hand when all the people we shared our idea with were completely on board.

Finance

We are completely self-funded. We would recommend remaining self-funded for as long as possible. Not only do you keep control of your business, but it forces you keep your costs down and to find creative solutions to any problems you might come across.

Regrets

We don't really have any regrets. We've made mistakes but each of them was an opportunity for us to learn. When you start a business, everything is new, you make the best decisions possible  with the information you have and then you assess the result and adapt.

What would you have changed?

The main thing we would have changed is to take a little more time to celebrate the wins. It's so easy to get on with the day-to-day and agonise over the tough times but it is crucial to take a moment to acknowledge key milestones and do a little happy dance. And then go straight back to work!
