Eureka moment
At the age of 65, I spotted a gap in the market for a new approach to cosmetics
for older women and thus, Look Fabulous Forever was born. Our beautiful range
of makeup for older women is ‘pro-age' which means that it is specifically
formulated to suit more mature faces.
Financing
I financed the business using £40,000 of my savings. I was determined to make the business a success myself and therefore didn't seek external financing.
Regrets
There isn't much that I wish I'd done differently. I had no great ambitions when I launched LFF
- it was intended to be an interesting and stimulating "hobby" which would keep
me busy and out meeting new people. It's difficult to have regrets when
everything has been so positive, right from the word go.
What would you have changed?
There are two things I wish I'd done differently. I met a consultant within the first six months of the business who I used to write a business plan. I knew in my gut that she was wrong both for me and the business and I should have withdrawn at that point. Secondly, in the middle of 2015, we moved to different web developers and again within a short space of time I had an inkling that they were not capable of giving us the website or the service that we required. If I could go back in time, I would have done more due diligence on that business and saved ourselves a lot of time and money.
