He runs a company called Bookmaker Ratings, which everyone knows about pretty well in the sports betting affiliate marketing industry. This industry although fairly unknown among the general populace, is expected to grow to a whopping $ 6.8 billion by the year 2020.

Although many people scoff at online affiliate marketers, entrepreneurs of Shahbazyan's calibre, are earning stupendous amounts of money by consistently generating leads for third-party sports betting websites such as Sbat and others.

The revenue generated by Bookmaker ratings is mostly based on revenue share agreements (usually 25% to 40% lifetime commissions on the business given by referrals), pay per clicks and fixed costs obtained from depositing players. These revenue streams alone make Paruyr Shahbazyan close to $ 2 million per year, with around $ 700,000 as his operation costs.

The key to his success

Shahbazyan considers himself as a seasoned entrepreneur in the sports betting affiliate industry. A little research into his website and its popularity will tell you that it's counted amongst the biggest sports betting related websites on the Internet. He operates from Russia, and his success is mainly because of the fact that Russians don't normally trust bookmakers.

Talking to the press, Shahbazyan said, "We earn bettors' trust by doing two main things: firstly, we help them to solve any bookmaker related issues that may arise and, secondly, we provide unbiased bookmaker ratings. In Russia, it's hard to find a bettor (that bets regularly) who isn't aware of us"

Bookmaker Ratings has its operations in Armenia, Ukraine and United Kingdom (as per a report, UK gambling industry is worth £14bn per year now) as well. Shahbazyan is all set to expand his company's operations to other major European countries too, apart from China in the Asian subcontinent. However, all this hasn't been easy. He finds himself dealing with all kinds of legal hurdles even in Russia.

The hurdles

Expressing his displeasure he stated that as of now there are more cons than pros in this industry. Regulations are tighter than they ever were. In fact, Russian censoring authorities had blocked their website from linking to any offshore bookies at one point of time. They were exclusively told that they could only link to websites that had a Russian license. Although there are many off-line bookies operating with a Russian license, there are just four of them, who at that time were accepting online bets.

Furthermore, there were/are strict restrictions on ads related to online betting. Shahbazyan stated that he somehow manages to work around that prohibition by classifying his website as a review portal, thereby escaping the advertising ban on bookmakers. He's a pretty daring entrepreneur who although does his best to stay above the board, doesn't mind risking a slap on the wrist if it means generating big rewards for his clients and company.

Paruyr Shahbazyan is living proof that working in the affiliate marketing industry can indeed help you score profits of over $ 1 million per year.
