70% of SMEs using online marketing
Over 70% of small businesses are increasing their online presence as a means of attracting new customers and surviving the recession, according to new research by private banking firm Kleinwort Benson.
The data also revealed that 63% of the small companies surveyed said that an online presence is critical to future success. Glyn Heath, chief executive of Centiq, said that interest in social media and web marketing is particularly high among small firms, but some companies have difficulty using social media tools effectively.
"Executives recognise that the web offers exciting engagement possibilities, but they are finding that social media are resource-heavy marketing channels, so increased spending will have lasting implications for workload," said Mr Heath.
