Petrol prices drop to under £1 a litre
The average price of a litre of unleaded petrol has dropped to below £1 for the first time in under a year, according to figures released by the AA.
The average cost for petrol is now 98.6p - the same as in October 2007.
The AA believe that the drop in price is due to the falling price of oil, which has decreased from a summer high of $147 to $60 a barrel, and a supermarket price war which has forced other forecourts to follow suit.
This is welcome news for small business, whose costs are rising at twice the rate of larger companies.
The average price of diesel has also fallen to 110p a litre.
